L’Arche Cork is recruiting for the position of House Leader in one of our houses. This role involves leading a team of assistants in order to provide a warm and friendly home for residents. The person who fills it will be warm and outgoing, he or she will be a good communicator and will have experience in leading a team effectively. Excellent organisational and written skills are also essential aspects of this role.
“The House Leader is responsible for ensuring the safety, welfare and good quality of life of the residents and assistants in the house as well as the day to day management of life in the house while staying faithful to the spirit and vision of the L’Arche Identity & Mission statements. The House Leader is also required to adhere to the requirements of the National Standards for Residential Care Services for Adults with Intellectual Disabilities”.

About the role:
This will be a full-time live-out role which will include some evenings and weekends. The salary will be commensurate with HSE pay scales.
Requirements for the role include the following:
Each candidate must have a relevant professional qualification in either a Health or Social Care sector, i.e. an RNID/RGN qualification or a relevant qualification in Social Care.
The person filling this role will be named as a “Person Participating in Management” according to HIQA regulations. A relevant management qualification will be an advantage for this position.
Previous experience of effectively managing a team and a proven ability to pro-actively lead, motivate, empower and achieve results through people is essential
Knowledge and a minimum of two (2) years’ experience of working with people with an intellectual disability and managing people’s well-being using an evidence based approach to person centred planning
A good understanding of HIQA requirements and an in-depth knowledge of the National Standards for Residential Services for Children and Adults with Disabilities and The Health Act 2007 (Care and Support of Residents in Designated Centres for Persons (Children and Adults with Disabilities) Regulations 2013 is essential
The person filling the role will demonstrate a clear commitment to community integration and active citizenship for all people with disabilities
A full clean driving license.
